What is Microdermabrasion?

If you want to improve your complexion without undergoing surgery, one of the most effective procedures is microdermabrasion. This skin care treatment not only removes dead skin cells, but it also stimulates new cell growth. Microdermabrasion in San Jose has been known to reduce the appearance of a number of skin imperfections, including fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage and large pores.

For a first hand look at the results, please take a look at some microdermabrasion before and after pictures. We would also be happy to answer any additional questions regarding the procedure, including microdermabrasion prices, so give us a call today to learn more.

How is Microdermabrasion Performed?

Each microdermabrasion treatment lasts approximately 35 to 45 minutes, and is done right here in the comfort of our office. Because it is a non-invasive procedure, anesthesia is generally not necessary. After cleaning the treatment area, your skin care technician will use a medical-grade microdermabrasion machine to slough off dead skin cells.

Am I a Good Candidate for Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is highly effective in treating the following conditions:

• Age spots
• Sun-damaged skin
• Surface acne
• Enlarged pores
• Small scars
• Dark pigmentation

However, if you have heavily damaged or loose, sagging skin, microdermabrasion is not the solution.

These conditions call for a more advanced procedure, such as a face lift. Your doctor will also discuss your medical history during your consultation, as those with a history if diabetes, auto-immune disorders, active acne, rosacea and herpes may not be candidates either.

What are the Typical Results of Microdermabrasion?

Most of our microdermabrasion patients are thrilled with the improved tone, texture and color of their skin following treatment. Working as a deep exfoliator, microdermabrasion not only sloughs off dead skin cells, but it also stimulates new collagen and cell production. This leads to a much healthier and more youthful complexion. Seeing is believing, so we suggest viewing as many microdermabrasion before and after pictures as you can.

What are Microdermabrasion Costs?

Microdermabrasion costs will fluctuate, depending on how many treatments are necessary. Some may see benefits from just one treatment, while others need two or more to achieve the best possible results. Your surgeon will discuss all of this with you during your one-on-one consultation, so give us a call today and we’d be happy to schedule that for you.
