What is Fat Transfer?

One of the most natural and effective ways to improve the look of aging skin is via fat transfer. This procedure involves implanting the patient’s own excess fat into areas that need extra volume, such as the lips or cheeks. Your surgeon will take fat from the donor area (typically the abdomen, thighs or buttocks), and inject it into the treatment area to fill facial creases, plump lips or improve any other imperfections.

How is Fat Transfer Administered?

The fat transfer procedure begins by removing fat from the donor site. This can be your abdomen, buttocks, thighs or any other area that has excess fat to spare. Your surgeon will first apply a local anesthetic to numb the area, and then he will use a syringe to suction out the fat. Then, after prepping the fat, he will inject it into your treatment area to increase volume or fill out lines and creases. The entire procedure lasts approximately two hours, and you’ll have little to no down time.

We tell all of our patients that the best way to see the results is to look at some fat transfer before and after pictures.
