What is Rhinoplasty?
One of the most requested procedures among our patients in San Jose, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Santa Clara and the surrounding areas is rhinoplasty. More commonly known as nose surgery or a “nose job,” rhinoplasty is a procedure that corrects any imperfections of the nose. The beauty of this operation derives from the ability to achieve long-lasting enhancement of appearance and functional improvement in a subtle, yet meaningful manner. At Réviance®, our goal is to correct any hereditary or traumatic nasal imperfections in the most natural way possible, minimizing the appearance of surgery. Our surgeons have tremendous experience in cosmetic, traumatic, and functional rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction procedures.

How is Rhinoplasty Performed?
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular aesthetic procedures performed throughout the world. In general, the procedure is an outpatient procedure requiring general anesthesia or minimal sedation. Réviance® surgeons are highly specialized in rhinoplasty San Jose and are able to perform the procedure via an endonasal (or “closed” rhinoplasty) or external (“open” rhinoplasty) approach.
Common issues that we address (and which depend upon individual patient exam and concerns) include taking the “bump” on the nasal bridge down, refining the bulbous tip of the nose, rotating the nasal tip upwards or derotating the nasal tip, augmenting the nasal bridge, as well as other contouring and functional procedures.
Due to the complexity of each individual’s needs, the approach to rhinoplasty San Jose is highly customized and individualized. In some circumstances, non-surgical techniques may be used such as dermal filler procedures. These options can be discussed during the consultation process.
Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
The best candidates for rhinoplasty are those who have particular concerns with the look of their nose. Typically, patients have “always wanted to change” something about their nose. Whether it’s the size, shape, or any other imperfection (such as a bump, hooked or deviated septum), a rhinoplasty procedure may help achieve your goals. We recommend that only patients over the age of 17 or 18 receive this surgery, as the nose should be fully developed at that time.
What Kind of Post-Operative Rhinoplasty Care Can I Expect?
Following your nose surgery, you will be advised to avoid any strenuous activities for up to three weeks. And while you will experience bruising and swelling, you may return back to work in less than a week if you desire and depending upon the type of work that you do.
What are the Typical Results of Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty will not only improve the look of imperfections of the nose, such as narrowing or enlarging the nostrils, or correcting a hooked nose, but it will improve the overall balance of your face. It is also an effective solution in correcting deformities due to birth defects or injury, including breathing problems. Subtle refinements in the appearance of the nose can generate a pleasing difference in your overall appearance.
Our surgeons offer the option to perform a digital analysis of your nose and can craft a potential result so that realistic expectations can be addressed. Digital imaging is an excellent tool with which you can assess whether the procedure is right for you. Please indicate to our staff when scheduling your consultation if you are interested in the digital imaging process.
