Meet Dr. Fazilat

Dr. Shahin FazilatShahin Fazilat, M.D. is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He believes strongly in providing personal care for each of his patients, and prides himself on being an approachable surgeon with whom his patients can feel comfortable voicing their questions and concerns. He sees each patient personally and approaches each patient individually.

Dr. Fazilat grew up on the east coast and graduated with honors from the University of Maryland at College Park. He then attended the historic Howard University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. graduating in the top quarter of his class. Following medical school, Dr. Fazilat received his General Surgery training at The Washington Hospital Center. He was one of ten physicians selected to accelerate through General Surgery training in less than five years. It was during this time that his passion and love for plastic surgery flourished. Throughout college and medical school, Dr. Fazilat consistently placed into highly competitive programs such as The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fellowship Program. In the NIH, he worked along side world-renowned physicians and researchers conducting independent research projects. Dr. Fazilat has authored and co-authored several journal articles.

Dr. Fazilat completed his Plastic Surgery training in New York City at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons/Harlem Hospital Program. During this time, he trained with internationally recognized experts in the field of Plastic Surgery at Columbia University/Harlem Hospital, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York University. In addition, Dr. Fazilat completed a year-long Cosmetic Surgery apprenticeship in Arlington, Virginia where he had the opportunity to work with a premier plastic surgeon. Upon completion of his Plastic Surgery training, he accepted a fellowship position in Hand and Microsurgery at Stanford University. Dr. Fazilat continues his relationship with Stanford University by serving as an adjunct clinical professor in the division of Plastic Surgery at the Medical Center.

Dr. Fazilat feels his patients deserve to have a trained physician working with them at all times, therefore he personally performs all procedures. His practice is centered on breast and body cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Dr. Fazilat works closely with prominent surgical oncologists, has specialized training in microsurgery, and utilizes oncoplastic techniques in breast reconstruction. He performs many of the latest breast surgeries including breast reduction with vertical “lollipop” short scar and breast lift with minimal incision technique. Dr. Fazilat also has extensive training and expertise with all surgical options available for post weight loss surgeries including body-contouring, abdominoplasties, liposuction, body lifts, arm lifts, thigh lifts, as well as “mommy makeovers”. Surgeries are customized based on the individual’s needs, physique, desires, and medical necessity.
