RÉVIANCE JOINED THE FIGHT FOR THE RODRIGUEZ FAMILY AGAINST CYSTIC HYGROMA (JACQUELINE 11) AND HER MOTHER EVELYN’S BREAST CANCER.
A local San Jose family is in need of help! Evelyn Belen and Paul Rodriguez are a dear couple that have been married for 17 years. They have four children ranging in age from 11-30.
Their youngest Jacqueline, suffers from a rare disease called cystic hygroma. It’s an abnormality of tissue growth which has resulted in her having to use a trach to breathe and a feeding tube. Jacqueline is a miracle! .
The doctors said that she would not live past term, then past 1, and would never be able to go to public school.
Up until 3 years ago, Jacqueline lived full time in a sub-acute care facility in Campbell Children’s Recovery Center (CRC). She was finally discharged in 2008 on Christmas Eve, and is now a popular attendee of public school! What a blessing! As much as the family is grateful to have her home after waiting 8 years, they have been overwhelmed with her needs. She still sees specialists at Stanford Children’s Hospital but the family’s HMO Medical Insurance doesn’t cover all the expenses.
Needless to say, they pay a lot out of pocket.
The family got used to living paycheck to paycheck until last year when Evelyn was diagnosed with Breast cancer. She had to undergo two lumpectomies, a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation.
With Evelyn unable to work, and Jacqueline’s ever growing needs, the family found themselves in a compromising situation.
Our office manager Lacy met Paul when he was at work at a local restaurant. He is the type of person that has a smile on his face at all times and NEVER complains. When we learned of what his family was going through we couldn’t help but do something about it. This family deserves a fighting chance, and with your help, they just might have one.
